WHAT IS KOMOOT?

You may sort Tours on the Komoot website by length and level of difficulty. An app for route planning and navigation is called Komoot Komoot. It lets you create routes on your computer or mobile device and generates them depending on the riding style, terrain, and rider’s skill.

Komoot will provide information on the route’s mileage, elevation profile, road surface, necessary level of fitness, difficulty, and anticipated time based on a start and end point.

These routes may be used for navigation without an internet connection using a cell phone or GPS cycling computer.

When you’re on a ride, Komoot also lets you reroute if you have access to mobile data or the internet in case you decide you want to go somewhere else or just change directions.

The app also places a big emphasis on the community. As a result, you may incorporate certain hills, cafés, or sites of interest into your trip after learning about locations that other users prefer to ride or visit (referred to as “Highlights” on Komoot). They’ve designed paths that you may use as well.

The Komoot website offers desktop access to Komoot. Additionally, you may download Komoot for Android or iOS.

HOW DOES KOMOOT WORK?

You may search for Tours on Komoot based on their location and riding style.

Komoot bases its mapping on the open-source OpenStreetMap database, but it then develops its own algorithms to determine the optimum route based on the type of activity, the chosen waypoints, and the sites of interest.

The map overlays offered by Komoot include a Google satellite map as well as an Open Cycle Map that displays national cycleways. Additionally, GPX and FIT route files can be uploaded to Komoot.

Once a route has been chosen, Komoot will provide you with on-screen and auditory guidance while your smartphone is offline to conserve battery life. Additionally, you may download routes from Komoot and transfer them to your compatible bike computer for navigation.

The Komoot app allows you to change the route on the fly while riding and displays your speed, remaining mileage, and distance traveled.

Once your journey is over, you may post it to your Komoot profile and include pictures.

Local highlights will also be included on Komoot, as proposed by users and Komoot ambassadors.

The majority of wearable technology, including the Apple Watch and Android Wear, as well as a computer (PC or Mac), an iPhone, an Android phone, a Garmin, and a Wahoo can all utilize Komoot.
