HOW IS YUKA USED FOR?

The substances in food and cosmetics might be confusing and difficult to grasp. Beyond that, it is extremely harder to distinguish between good and hazardous chemicals without putting hours of research into each product. Anyone wishing to enhance their diet or skin may do it more easily using the Yuka app, which was developed for this purpose.

HOW DOES YUKA WORK?

Benoit Martin, François Martin, and Julie Chapon developed Yuka in 2017. Once the app has been downloaded, users may scan the barcode of any food or cosmetic product to obtain a score out of 100. The nutritional content of food goods accounts for 60% of the score, according to Yuka’s website. 30% of the final score is determined by the presence of additives. 10% of the score comes from the organic component.

The software is incredibly simple to use. To quickly access the product sheet with the composition data, simply scan the barcode of the product with your phone. Yuka then gives the customer a score, with outstanding being between 75 and 100, decent being between 50 and 74, mediocre being between 25 and 49, and awful being less than 25. The program also assigns a color code that ranges from green to red to make things easier to read. When a product is orange or red, there is a chance that you will mistake it for a comparable but superior product that Yuka has suggested.

No influence from brands

The ratings and suggestions made are unbiased and unaffected by any brand or company.

No ads

To promote their products on the app, brands cannot pay Yuka.

Responsible financing

Three ethical financing sources that Yuka has devised have been used, removing any potential conflicts of interest that would have affected the analyses’ neutrality.
